Soumita Bhattacharya is an Indian freelance photographer based in New York City. She is interested in exploring themes of identity and occupation trends in immigrant populations in New York City. Her work in India revolves around documenting time-honored traditions in both art and dance forms. Soumita's love for the camera is deeply connected to the vibrant and diverse cultural landscape of India, and her work across the Indian subcontinent captures not only the historically celebrated traditional Indian classical dance, but also the burgeoning Indian contemporary dance scene. She graduated from the International Centre of Photography from the One year certificate program in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism in 2015.
